Scorpions are a real problem for most Austin pest control / scorpion control companies. You should go with a company that has a proven track record for scorpion control. Check the pest control contract, if scorpions are not included in the print of the contract then there is no guarantee that they are covered. Exterminators may claim scorpions are covered, but if the contract does not include scorpions then they will not be covered. It seems simple enough but no one ever wants to read the fine print. You will be hard pressed to find a company that has mosquitoes listed on their service agreements. Why? Because you have to offer a very unique treatment if you want to treat for mosquitoes. Most companies will not go that far so they won't or don't cover mosquitoes.
Scorpions are similar in that they are difficult to control, but they are not impossible to control. Many products are labeled to kill scorpions. However, few are effective. You just need a company that does a little more. That researches specific treatments. If your curious about their research then ask them if they use scorpion control techniques proven by the University of Arizona. (Arizona does the most research in this field as AZ has far more scorpions per square mile then Texas.)
Do I need a pest control contract?
Yes. If you want a solid pest control solution with any type of guarantee then you will need a service agreement. What does service quality have to do with a contract? If I were a fly by the night, greasy, no good, money eyed, pest control guy then I would have no problem taking someone's money for an exhorbant "One-Time Treatment Price". I mean who wouldn't want $150 to $300 to get in and get out?
Who doesn’t like the cake more then the bread and butter? Well...?
Companies that care, quite frankly, don't want to offer a one time treatment. When the EPA regulates products so that they only last up to 90 days then a one time treatment will never control your bugs. Eggs don't hatch out for 6 months on many pests and scorpion can survive 6 months without food. So a one time treatment is just putting a band-aid on a head wound.
